Charleston, SC

Hi Stephanie, here's some things to look forward to on your upcoming trip :)

Interesting Architecture!

Secret Garden (okay, well it's really not a secret or a garden, but it's a cool spot accessed by a little alley you can find off of 161 1/2 King St.

Fancy Ironwork

Cats & Kittens in unexpected places!

Gingerbread People

Houses with hats

Beware of Octopi! And voodoo men with umbrellas.

Dungeons?

Aquarium (with insect houses - it's not just fish anymore)

Swings :)

Horses...maybe mules...either way they'll take you on a tour of town and their owners will tell you they like it.

Historic Borough Houses down the street from the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Our visit took place not very long after the shooting there; this poster memorialized all that were lost.

Old city jail... now something to do with an architecture school

Random Dylan shots...

If you look very closely this is a self portrait of Dylan and I

Wading at my own risk - like a water fountain should need a lifeguard...

Strange packs of birds roaming the streets

Fort Sumter

Early Hunley submarine...Probably goes without saying, but it does not look like something you want to go underwater in.

Very important. Chocolate Pudding. Best ever. Hominy Grill. Go here for brunch. Go.      (I also recommend Cru Cafe for lunch. I was told Fig was good for dinner, but didn't make it)

Drayton Hall (about 15 miles from downtown Charleston - there were other plantations in this area, but we only saw this one). It is the only plantation house to survive intact through both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Cemetery at Drayton hall (oldest documented African-American cemetery still in use - also the most mosquitos we encountered during the trip)

Angel Oak. Simply wonderful. Believed to be about 400 years old. Stunning circumference.

Botany Bay Plantation Wildlife Management Area (about an hour from downtown C)

Have fun!
